Dr. Truelove worked as a Faculty Program Mentor at the Teacher’s College at Western Governor’s University. Program Member faculty members prepare future Educators to provide mentoring, academic coaching, and degree planning, for aspiring K–12 special education teachers that Lead to dual licensure in Elementary Education and Special education. Her dissertation entitled “An Evaluation of Family Involvement in a Title I Urban Middle School,” allowed her to research the psychological dynamics of parental involvement in disadvantaged school settings. Her love for education continues as she presently works as a Special Education Teacher with the Alabama Virtual Academy. Additionally, Dr. Truelove has served on various district and school-level curriculum design and alignment committees that enhanced the special education program.

Being a philanthropist at heart, Dr. Truelove has a passion for motivating others to become their very best in their personal and professional endeavors. She served as a mentor for young African American girls in a program she established called “I Can Win.”   Dr. Truelove strongly believes that our children should be taught the power of speaking positive words and developing a growth mindset. She has spoken in various schools and community-based program events. Dr. Truelove strongly believes that our children should be provided with various avenues of celebrating their academic and educational accomplishments. Dr. Truelove acknowledges that her biggest accomplishments are being the mother to Daniel, 13, and twins Ashlyn and Brooklyn, 12, who are the driving force in her life. She prays specifically and consistently for them to achieve all that God holds for them. She believes that parents should invest in their children and treat them as the greatest commodity. She and her children are from Tuscaloosa, Alabama but currently reside in Dothan, Alabama.
